Anyone who is into role-playing video games is familiar with BioWare. BioWare is an electronic entertainment company which is famous for specializing in role-playing games for console, personal computers and online RPGs. This company was founded by Dr. Ray Muzyka, Dr. Greg Zeschuk and Augustine Yip in February 1, 1995. Founders Muzyka and Zeshuk both earned medical degrees at the University of Alberta. Its other founder, Augustine Yip, left the company in 1997 to return to pursuing his medical degree. Muzyka and Zeshuk, however, remained and served as company heads of the BioWare studio.

BioWare is based in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada. It went into partnership in November 3, 2005 with Pandemic Studios but both companies retained their individual brands and staffs despite having similar game developing function. Currently, BioWare have other studios located in Austin (Texas), Fairfax (Virginia), Montreal (Quebec) and Galway (Ireland).
